Venue Description: The Bayside Historical Society was founded in 1964 by Joseph H. Brown, a Bayside resident determined to keep his neighborhood beautiful and its inhabitants aware of its history. When the society was first founded, it resided in what was once an Amery Officers' Club in Fort Totten Park that was later converted into an Army hospital and medical research facility.
Today, the Bayside Historical Society advocates for the preservation, protection, and landmarking of the most historical structures in the Bayside area. The society continues to educate the public about the area's long and interesting history through ongoing exhibits at the society's museum called the Castle.
The Castle is open to the public Thursday-Friday 10am-3pm, and Sundays 12pm-4pm. Suggested donation for admission is $3. The Bayside Historical Society is located at 208 Totten Avenue in Bayside, Queens. For more information call 718-352-1548 or visit baysidehistorical.org.
