Long Island City Ballet, owned by Caroline Duprot, offers small class sizes with focused learning environments for aspiring professional dancers. The small groups allow Duprot to focus on the individual dancers more and advise parents if their child's talents could lead to a professional dance school. Duprot also offers classes for adults because of the health benefits ballet provides.

Long Island City Ballet offers classes for children and adults.

Long Island City Ballet opened in early June, and owner Caroline Duprot hopes the new studio will provide a focused environment for small groups of dancers. By having smaller class sizes, Duprot says she can help her students become more aware of music, movement, and direction.

Having danced professionally for 16 years, Duprot wants to create an atmosphere that will help young dancers go on to a professional school, such as American Ballet Theatre or Julliard School of Music. The small classes give Duprot the ability to focus on each student and advise parents if their child’s talents could lead them to a professional school.

Duprot’s classes are based on age, and there will be four classes a day—two for children and two for adults. Duprot decided to include adult classes because of the health benefits of ballet. “Ballet barre classes elongates the body, strengthens the back, and perfects posture,” Duprot says.

Duprot is working with the community to organize a grand opening, aiming for late June.
