As the oldest independent school in Queens, Kew-Forest offers an intense focus on the basics. Our Faculty and Staff bring caring, excellence, and expertise to small classrooms, where the emphasis is on fine instruction and high expectations. Our diverse student body represents the ethnicities, languages, religions, and cultures of the global community for which we prepare students. Indeed, since 1918 it has been our single-minded mission to inspire lifelong learners and intellectual explorers in a safe, supportive, competitive college-preparatory environment. Lower Division (Nursery through Grade 6) The Lower Division’s comprehensive curriculum is designed to inspire a love of learning. Students master the basics—Writing, Math, Social Studies, and Science—and gain enrichment through classes like Spanish, Art, Music, and Health. For three and four-year-olds, our Early Childhood Development program balances skill building with project work to create a strong foundation for learning.
Upper Division (Grades 7-12) In Kew-Forest’s Upper Division, students work through a challenging core curriculum—one that stretches their intellects and requires high personal and academic standards. K-F has a full-time college counselor and offers SAT preparation courses on campus. Academics Small classes and close relationships enable us to provide all of our students with an enriched curriculum that stresses skill building, practice, trial-and-error, independence, and achievement. Students learn to think clearly and logically, formulate independent opinions, and express themselves effectively. Kew-Forest Tennis Academy at the West Side Tennis Club We have partnered with the West Side Tennis Club—the cradle of US Tennis—to offer scholar-athletes rigorous academics and a highly individualized athletic program. Extracurricular Activities Students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to join academic and cultural clubs, athletic teams, and community service groups. The Athletics Department provides students with many opportunities to participate in team sports. For students in K-6, after-school care runs from 3-6pm Mondays through Fridays and includes snack, homework, and active playtime. Come for a Visit! Kew-Forest is located at 119-17 Union Turnpike, Forest Hills, NY 11375. To learn more, please call 718-268-4667 x125 or visit www.kewforest.org.
