What makes Queens Paideia School unique? Its remarkable 5:1 student-teacher ratio. Our exceptional staff guides students toward achieving levels of academic success and personal growth that are possible only with such low student-teacher ratios. With detailed knowledge of each student's temperament, strengths, challenges, and interests, we create individualized learning plans that reflect what so many parents long for, and so many students need: not just "differentiation" but a truly personalized education that enables special gifts to blossom. We also welcome and encourage parent involvement because we strongly believe that education occurs as much in the home as in school.

Our approach challenges students academically in the core subject areas and at the same time helps them acquire the important skills of critical thinking, problem solving, and learning how to learn, along with valuable interpersonal skills and self-management techniques. The result: Students become self-motivated learners driven by curiosity, a love of ideas, and appreciation for the arts. And they progress toward becoming empathic, helpful people who enjoy working independently and in collaboration with others.

AN EYE ON YOUR CHILD'S FUTURE
QPS was founded by Dr. Francis Mechner, who first implemented this approach at the Armonk Paideia School in 1969. All members of our faculty hold master's degrees or PhDs. QPS has a K-12 charter from the NY State Board of Regents. We are located in the Long Island City Arts Center, a cultural campus that provides students with unparalleled exposure to the worlds of music, dance, art, and theater. The QPS experience consists of far more than traditional academics-it provides the education our children need for success in the world of their future.
